Andrew M. Carton

Assoc. Professor, The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania

As part of an exciting new partnership with the Philadelphia Ethical Society, representatives from Effective Altruism will explain a new global movement to combine head and heart in doing good.  Effective Altruism – which grew out of the work of several philosophers, including Peter Singer – uses evidence and careful reasoning to promote the general well-being of everyone, equally, or as close to it as possible.

Andrew M. Carton received his PhD from Duke University in Business Administration and has taught at Penn State, the London Business School, and at Wharton.  His focus of research is on how leaders establish a common purpose and manage conflict and discrimination. Currently he is exploring research topics related to Effective Altruism.
