Jovida Hill, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Engagement for Women, discusses her office and the Philadelphia Commission for Women and the role they play in advancing the administration’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Since the office was created in 2016, they have tackled issues of sexual harassment, street harassment, wage equity, fair workweek and minimum wage legislation, human trafficking, domestic worker’s bill of rights, and dignity for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women.
A former journalist and filmmaker with more than 200 videos and films to her credit, Hill joined the Kenney administration in 2016 as the Administrator in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion before being appointed to the Office of Engagement for Women. She is the former chair of the Philadelphia Black Women’s Health Project and Scenic Philadelphia (formerly SCRUB), and a founding member of the African Sisterhood and the Women Gather Conference.
